Jan Maarten de Vries President of Fleet Management Solutions at Bridgestone Mobility Solution

Webfleet’s 25-year journey reflects telematics’ evolution from simple tracking to AI-driven fleet management, now serving 60,000+ global customers and focusing on efficiency, safety, and sustainability.

Webfleet Marks Its 25th Anniversary as a Leading Fleet Management Solution

Webfleet, Bridgestone’s globally trusted fleet management solution, is celebrating its 25th anniversary this year. The company commemorated the occasion with festivities at its Amsterdam-based headquarters.

“Telematics has revolutionised the transport industry, evolving from simple vehicle tracking to comprehensive fleet and data management solutions. Today’s vehicles generate much more data, from trailers to tyres. The increasing connection of these different data sources through holistic fleet management solutions enables fleet companies to continuously develop and optimise their operations,” said Jan-Maarten de Vries, President of Fleet Management Solutions at Bridgestone Mobility Solutions.

The History of Webfleet

Webfleet’s journey began in 1999 when DataFactory AG launched one of the world’s first SaaS fleet management solutions. Over the next decade, it rapidly evolved, integrating with navigation systems, expanding internationally, and becoming Europe’s leading fleet management solution. The acquisition by TomTom in 2005 further enhanced its capabilities, combining fleet management with connected navigation and order management.

From 2010 onwards, Webfleet continued to innovate, introducing advanced driver terminals, eco-driving features, and performance improvement tools. In 2019, it became part of Bridgestone, expanding its end-to-end fleet proposition. The company then embraced the electric vehicle revolution, developing solutions to support businesses in their EV transition. Looking towards 2024 and beyond, Webfleet remains committed to leveraging cutting-edge technologies like AI, IoT, and tyre sensors to drive efficiency, safety, and sustainability in the fleet industry.

Revolutionizing Fleet Management: AI, EVs, and the Power of Partnerships

Integration and seamless data sharing are becoming essential for fleet businesses as new use cases come from diverse providers, and customer needs are ever more complex. Artificial Intelligence will raise the bar even further, opening up more significant opportunities to enhance fleet management solutions, such as optimising route planning, predictive maintenance, and road and driver safety.

De Vries: “Telematics will continue to provide ROI as fleets address new challenges. AI-enabled solutions and electric vehicles will have a huge impact on fleet management in the future. For us, it’s clear that partnerships and collaboration will be essential in unlocking new possibilities and delivering new services and business models to provide added value to our customers in these fast-moving times.”

Today, Webfleet is one of the leading fleet management solutions worldwide, with over 60,000 customers servicing drivers in 180 countries.
