Continental refines tyre range to streamline options for on-road haulage applications with new Continental Eco 5 tyres.

New Continental Eco 5

Continental is restructuring its tyre lineup for general haulage truck applications, offering customers a simpler but more capable range of options.

The arrival of the new Continental Generation 5 Eco tyre, launched at the company’s Hannover headquarters in April, will soon replace the existing long-distance-focused Conti EcoPlus tyre and the Conti EcoRegional tyre for mixed distribution fleets. Operators will now have a choice of three tyre options, which combined can support a wide range of fleet uses.

Newly developed by Continental, the Eco 5 tyre helps to bridge the performance conflict between low rolling resistance and high mileage usually found in an on-road haulage tyre. The result is a tyre that delivers outstanding results for motorway and regional use. Available for the steer and drive axles, the Eco 5 tyre builds on the strengths of the outgoing models but utilises the latest in tyre design technology. The result is a durable, long-lasting tyre that helps operators to maximise fuel economy and mileage.

Unveiled in 2022, the Generation 5 Hybrid tyre line is Continental’s most adaptable and is suitable for trucks operating in multiple environments. Combining high mileage with durability and good traction, the Hybrid tyre supports vehicles operating predominantly in regional and inner-city environments, but with the capabilities to perform both on the motorway and off-road.

EfficientPro Tyre

Continental also offers its EfficientPro tyre, which achieves exceptionally low levels of rolling resistance for truck manufacturers.

“Our simplified on-road tyre range is a testament to the outstanding innovation delivered by our Generation 5 tyre models. Each tyre offers an exceptional mix of durability and performance to better meet the diverse needs of our operators. When combined with our ContiRe and Bandvulc retread ranges, and tyres from our other brands, such as Uniroyal, Continental undoubtedly has one of the most capable product portfolios on the market today,” said Grant Willman, Sales Director – Truck Tyres UK & Ireland.

Customers can already specify ContiRe Generation 5 Hybrid retread tyres, with the ContiRe Eco tyre launching in 2025. Alternatively, operators can choose from the Bandvulc range of retread tyres, which are designed, engineered and manufactured at the ContiLifeCycle facility in Ivybridge, Devon.
