Total Registrations Grow Across Commercial Vehicles and Buses
In April 2024, total commercial vehicle registrations surged to 33,158 units, marking a 30% increase year-on-year. Year-to-date registrations also demonstrated robust performance, reaching 129,555 units, reflecting a solid 13% increase compared to the same period last year.
Breaking down the numbers further, commercial vehicles up to 6 tonnes (excluding buses) witnessed growth, with registrations totalling 24,593 units in April 2024. This represents an impressive 36% increase year-on-year. Year-to-date registrations in this category stood at 97,748 units, reflecting an 18% growth compared to the previous year.
Similarly, commercial vehicles over 6 to 16 tonnes (excluding buses) experienced notable growth, with 2,011 units registered in April 2024, a 32% increase year-on-year. Year-to-date registrations in this segment reached 6,747 units, showcasing an 8% growth compared to the same period last year.
The segment of commercial vehicles over 16 tonnes (excluding buses) also demonstrated positive growth, with registrations totaling 6,095 units in April 2024, reflecting an 11% increase year-on-year. However, year-to-date registrations in this category reached 23,005 units, marking a slight 2% decrease compared to the previous year.
The bus segment experienced substantial growth in April 2024, with registrations reaching 459 units, marking an impressive 20% increase compared to the same month last year. Year-to-date bus registrations stood at 2,055 units, reflecting a 20% growth compared to the previous year.
