The Spanish commercial vehicle market witnessed a robust uptick in registrations for February, according to the latest data released. The figures reflect encouraging growth across various segments, underscoring a positive start to the year for the sector.
Light Commercial Vehicles (LCVs) Experience Double-Digit Growth
In February, registrations of Light Commercial Vehicles (LCVs) surged to 12,855 units, marking a substantial 14.1% increase compared to the same period last year. The year-to-date data for 2024 reveals a consistent upward trend, with LCV registrations totaling 23,989 units, reflecting a notable 15.7% increase compared to the corresponding period in the previous year. Comunidad de Madrid emerged as a key contributor to the surge in commercial vehicle registrations, with a notable 12.8% year-on-year increase, totaling 6,233 units for February.
The segment of industrial vehicles also experienced significant growth in February, with registrations totaling 2,659 units, marking a remarkable 37.4% year-on-year increase. Notably, vehicles weighing over 16 tonnes recorded substantial registrations, with 2,211 units, signaling a buoyant market demand in this category. Among industrial vehicle registrations, prominent manufacturers such as Iveco and Mercedes showcased strong performance, with 524 and 584 units registered, respectively. Regionally, Comunidad de Madrid and Cataluña stood out with notable year-on-year increases of 59.7% and 46.9%, respectively, indicating robust market activity in these regions.
Buses recorded a remarkable 74.7% year-on-year increase in registrations for February, totaling 3,052 units. The year-to-date figures also highlight a substantial 30.2% increase, with 6,105 units registered in 2024.
