Continental has announced its presence at the 2024 Giro d’Italia. The company will be present at the 107th edition of the Corsa Rosa as Top Sponsor and Official Tyre. Continental will also be present at the Giro-E, the eponymous competition with electric road bikes, as a jersey sponsor and will participate in the event with its own team.
The 2024 Giro d’Italia, the first of the three three-week grand tours of the year, will feature 6 stages for sprinters, two-time trials, five mountain stages with four uphill finishes, eight hard stages and 42,900 metres of elevation gain. This year’s edition will have Tadej Pogacar as the main favourite to win the pink jersey. The historic cycling stage race will begin in Piedmont with the inaugural stage leaving Venaria Reale on May 4 and covering a total of 3,321 km divided into 21 stages, arriving in Rome on May 26.
“We are excited about this adventure. It will be a fantastic opportunity to meet the many people who share our enthusiasm for this sport, and we are proud to be able to participate prominently in the Giro, an example of Italian excellence that fuels passions and creates value, generating significant economic benefits and enhancing the beauty of our country. For us it means communicating the very essence of the Continental brand: we will work hard to raise awareness about the dual issue of road safety and a vision of mobility that, thanks to research technology, is capable of responding to today’s growing needs, in addition to being increasingly linked to sustainability issues,” says Giorgio Cattaneo, Director of Communication and Events at Continental Italia PR.
“In Continental we have found an international partner for the Giro d’Italia with whom we share common objectives. The organisation of events such as the Corsa Rosa and the Giro-E cannot ignore fundamental issues such as safety, sustainability, innovation and performance. All of these elements are perfectly aligned with Continental’s stated objectives. The Giro d’Italia is a three-week journey through our beautiful country and we are sure that we could not have a better partner than Continental to carry it out with,” explains Matteo Mursia, Chief Revenue Officer of RCS Sport.
