Spanish registrations show a large increase in car-derived commercial vehicles, but a lesser growth in all other LCV sectors
ANFAC Reports Buoyant CV Market in Spain
According to Spain’s ANFAC, car-derived LCV showed a 227 per cent jump in sales in November compared to the previous November, with an annual, year-to-date increase of 109.3 per cent.
Vans saw a growth in the year-to-date of 26.2 per cent, and pick-up trucks grew by 153 per cent in November compared to the previous year and 40.4 per cent on the year-to-date.
Light vans up to 2.8 tons saw steady sales with just a 1 per cent growth in the year-t-date, larger trucks in the 2.8-3.5 ton sector had seen a 27.5 per cent growth, whilst chassis cab units in the same bracket saw a slight increase at 13.4 per cent in the year-to-date.
The HGV sector saw a generally positive trend in November, with the exception of 3.5 – 6 ton trucks dropping 10.5 per cent in November – but still showing a 44.5 per cent growth in the year-to-date. 6 – 16 tons grew by 37 per cent in November – 43.5 per cent in the year-to-date. The 16-ton plus rigid sector showed a steady growth of 48.6 per cent for the year, while tractor units grew by just 13.1 per cent in the year to date.
The bus and coach sector continued to perform well, with November sales up 138.4 per cent and year-to-date growth of 73.1 per cent.
In all, a total growth in the year-to-date for HGV and buses of 25.9 per cent. Interestingly, the Canary Islands showed the largest percentage increase in sales, though the two largest, by volume, markets were Madrid and Catalonia.
