La Asociación Española de Fabricantes de Automóviles y Camiones (ANFAC), the automotive association for Spain has announced its latest figures for June 2021 with industrial vehicles and buses showing 18.1% year-on-year growth, whilst the light commercial vehicle market decreased by 4.9% when compared against June 2020’s benchmark.
ANFAC Publish Latest Market Trends for June
The industrial vehicle and bus segments headlined June’s figures with 18.1% year-on-year growth as 1,533 industrial vehicles and 169 buses were registered. These registrations represented a 17.7% and 21.6% year-on-year growth respectively. In terms of the year-to-date performance, the segment is showing a 28% improvement on January 2020 to June 2020’s figures with industrial vehicles 33% up on the same period in 2020, but buses 16% down in the same time frame. The performance of the bus registrations in 2021 underlines the problems the sector is continuing to have during the pandemic with tourism struggling to previous levels and many workers working from home, thus avoiding the use of public transport.
As for the light commercial vehicle sector, it experienced a 4.9% drop in comparison to June 2020’s performance as 15,456 units were registered. The picture is much healthier for the accumulated figures for the year, with 2021 standing 39.9% ahead of 2020 at the same stage.
The continued improvement in the light commercial and industrial vehicle segments is positive news for tyre manufacturers with original equipment contracts in Spain, but the outlook and performance for the bus sector still appears to be problematic.
